my story

at the beginning of 2020, like the rest of the world, I made my plans for the year

then the world changed

like many of you, i sought solace at home, working my hardest to curate this new life with all new realities

this capsule collection of boudoirwear is the result of that investment

i thought of my grandmother, Geraldine and my mother, Clarice, and how hard they worked

they were both seamstresses, making their own garments

i thought of how much of a blessing it is for me, their daughter/ granddaughter, to not only live their dream professionally, but to do so, while embracing and uplifting the necessity of rest

these pieces are made with them in mind

made with all my muses in mind who’s immortalized canvases grace the walls of my atelier

the muses who’ve guided my steps and who guide them still

muses inspire each design, and each collection is named after them

the pieces I create are carefully curated as an expression of self-love

my dreams of being a designer realized

an alumnus of Fashion Industries High School, i studied illustration and merchandising as a child, but without the confidence in my talent, i chose product development as a career

now, in the 4th decade of my life, with nearly 20 years’ experience in development, i’m realizing my dream

je mérite (i deserve) is designed in my atelier in my hometown of the bronx

sourced from local remnant materials, je mérite is manufactured in a guyanese family owned and operated facility in nyc, reducing import waste, supporting local craftsmen, and maintaining ethical labor and wage standards

i sourced all recycled kraft paper packaging materials and take pride in my gorgeous “jm” debossed gift box

je mérite is a capsule collection of classic pieces for every closet that flatter a wide range of body shapes with superior comfort and finishing

the boudoir collection was created to wear separately or combined, for a complete boudoir wardrobe

each piece is fit on models, beginning with myself and my best friends, for a natural silhouette, clean finished with baby hems and french seams for long-lasting wear and luxurious comfort
