“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in acalmspirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.”
Saint Francis de Sales
Dearest Muse,
Especially now, finding moments of calm... now that's luxury
At Je Mérite, I Deserve, we believe that everyone deserves the gift of tranquility and peace
Embracing calm is not just about slowing down; it’s about creating a space where your mind, body, and soul can rejuvenate and thrive
This week, we urge you, as means of survival, to cultivate calm in your life
This week's affirmation is…
I Deserve Calm

We begin with a calming meditation I found a few years back
CALMING MEDITATION FOR DIFFICULT DAYS
This meditation calms you down, helps you to breathe again, takes you to your happy place and gives you peace, calm and protection so that you can go back into the world feeling stronger and at ease once more.
Next, a podcast from one of my favorites
HOW TO RESET YOUR MIND FOR CALM & CONTROL
In this episode, you’re going to learn how to turn your comfort zone into a powerful tool that fuels your success. Your comfort zone is not a place of weakness—it’s actually a place for growth. You’ll discover how and when to use it so you can feel more calm, confident and optimistic life.
Next, music that always calms me. From my favorite vocalist, Samara Joy
Credited with bringing jazz to a younger generation, this personal and intimate collection of standards and original songs, showcase Samara's growth as a vocalist, songwriter, and bandleader. The album is not a follow-up to her previous work but rather a new step in her artistic evolution.
Next, a bonus for all of us to make it thru this heatwave. Although this list is NYC focused, I encourage you to find a similar list in your city. Now get outside, get cool, get calm.
FUN WAYS TO STAY COOL DURING NYC'S HEAT WAVE
You don't need to stay home to keep cool—there are a multitude of fun ways to avoid the heat.
Next, novels from who's known as the author of "calm" novels, Lessa Cross-Smith.
Let's get lost in a book.
"Leesa Cross-Smith's This Close to Okay navigates difficult subjects with great tenderness and the beautiful, emotionally rich language she's known for. By turns heartbreaking, charming, surprising and funny, Cross-Smith deftly explores what it means to be okay in the face of what life hands us."--Elizabeth Crane, author of The History of Great Things
Lastly, one of my favorite films about a woman who just wanted some calm to write. I hope laughter calms you as much as it calms me.
ENJOY!!!
A CALMING RITUAL
A RITUAL OF QUIET RESTORATION FROM JE MÉRITE, I DESERVE FOR NERVOUS SYSTEM NOURISHMENT, SOFTNESS, AND STILLNESS
Calm is not a reward for finishing the to-do list.
This gentle ritual is here to support your exhale.
A CALM MORNING - this one might be difficult. Wake slowly. Before engaging with the world, sit in silence—no phone, no words.
A CALM EVENING - turn off notifications. Close the laptop. Place your phone face down. Step away. Light a candle and sit with a warm drink. Read a book. Listen to your favorite album. Set your do not disturb to begin in one hour, blow the candle out, and drift to sleep.
You do not have to earn calm.
You do not have to prove you're overwhelmed.
You are allowed to slow down.
To breathe.
To soften.
You'll be hearing more from me soon. Promise.
