Week 12 - I Deserve To Be Seen, Je Mérite Detre Vu

Do you ever feel like you’re shrinking yourself to fit into spaces that weren’t designed for your brilliance?
This week, I want to remind you that you deserve to be seen, acknowledged, and celebrated for the incredible person you are.
This week's affirmation is…
I DESERVE TO BE SEEN
(JE MÉRITE D'ÊTRE VU)
Whether you're navigating the ups and downs of life, pursuing your passions, or simply finding joy in the little moments, I want you to know that you are worthy, you are enough, and you deserve to be seen.
So take a moment this week to honor yourself. Below are some great resources, hand-picked by myself, Tamara Charese, to reflect on your accomplishments, dreams, and the qualities that make you who you are.
To start... A MEDITATION
Do you feel fear when you put yourself out there, or share your gifts with the world? If so, this meditation will help you overcome your subconscious fear of being seen and tap into the natural confidence that already exists within you.

Next, a PODCAST episode
Long before the Harvey Weinstein scandal, the Alyssa Milano tweet or the Time’s Up campaign, Tarana Burke's movement to support brown and Black survivors of sexual violence began over a decade ago. Since then, the call has gone viral, and Tarana is on a mission to help survivors navigate what comes after the hashtag. Whether you're a survivor or an ally, everyone has a place in this movement. #MeToo is still about giving young people language, survivors a way forward, and the community coming together to combat sexual assault. In this podcast, we reclaim MeToo and are seen once again.

Next, our JOURNAL PROMPT with some truly enlightening information of the healing power of being seen...
In our fast-paced, achievement-oriented society, overachievers and people-pleasers often grapple with an unexpected adversary: the fear of being seen. This fear, deeply rooted in past traumas and perpetuated by societal pressures, can hinder personal and professional growth, leading to a life of unfulfilled potential and persistent anxiety. By exploring the origins and manifestations of this fear, we can begin to understand its impact and uncover pathways to healing.

Next, our BOOK SELECTION...
From Bookriot: "This book is a humor memoir that grew out of Brosh’s webcomic/blog. It tackles everything from laziness to adulting to depression in a way that makes me feel that perhaps I wrote the book myself while in a fugue state? A childhood marked by a sugar obsession so strong I hid containers of frosting under my bed? It’s me. An adulthood marked by a complete lack of self-motivation? It’s me. Debilitating depression and self-loathing? Also, sometimes me. I occasionally reread this book and, every time, the connection I feel to Brosh takes my breath away. Her stories also make me laugh so hard I end up crying. For the love of all that is holy, read the damn book!"

Lastly, two films, one, the original, and the other, the upcoming sequel...
Stephanie is a single mother with a parenting vlog who befriends Emily, a secretive upper-class woman who has a child at the same elementary school. When Emily goes missing, Stephanie takes it upon herself to investigate.
A SIMPLE FAVOR
STARRING ANNA KENDRICK, BLAKE LIVELY, AND HENRY GOLDING
It all started with just a simple favor… Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.

YOUR "I DESERVE" AFFIRMATION RITUAL
You are not meant to shrink, dim, or hide. This self-care routine is designed to help you step into your light, embrace your visibility, and honor your presence in the world.
OWN YOUR VOICE Speak up today! Whether it’s sharing your thoughts in a meeting, posting something meaningful, or simply asking for what you need—claim your space with confidence.
CONNECT AUTHENTICALLY Reach out to someone who truly sees you. Whether it’s a friend, mentor, or community, surround yourself with those who recognize and honor your essence.
PRACTICE AN EVENING RITUAL Light an affirmation candle, run a luxurious bath or cozy up in your softest silk robe. Reflect on the moments today where you allowed yourself to be fully present.
You are here, and that is enough. Your existence, your presence, and your light deserve to be seen.

This week, challenge yourself to take up space—wear the bold color, share your thoughts, walk with confidence. You deserve to be seen.

Understand this if you understand nothing: it is a powerful thing to be seen
