RETURN TO JOY: 7 CHILDLIKE QUALITIES ADULTS CAN RECLAIM TO FEEL ALIVE AGAIN

BY MR ANKS FOR MEDIUM.COM

I was walking through a park one day when I noticed a small child trying to catch a butterfly. She wasn’t being particularly graceful about it — arms flailing, tripping over her own feet — but her laughter filled the air. Her parents watched from a bench, smiling, while quietly scrolling their phones. And I couldn’t help but wonder: When did we stop chasing butterflies?

Rediscover the simple joy of being alive by embracing seven playful, curious and freeing qualities you left behind in childhood.

Next, a series by award-winning and bestselling powerhouse author Kennedy Ryan

THE MAGIC OF BELLE ISLE

STARRING MORGAN FREEMAN

THE JOY RITUAL

FROM JE MÉRITE, I DESERVE

Joy is your birthright—not a reward you earn, but a state of being you’re allowed to return to again and again. Whether it arrives in bursts of belly laughter, quiet moments of delight, or the smallest sparkle in your day, this self-love and self-care ritual is your invitation to welcome joy back into your life… intentionally, unapologetically.

Enjoy this week's rituals -

JOY JOURNALING - Each evening, jot down 3 things that brought you joy that day, no matter how small. Over time, this becomes a love letter to your most radiant self.

DRESSING JOYFUL - Choose an outfit that makes you feel alive—whether that’s a silky set in citron or your coziest lounge look. Dress for your mood or the mood you want to invite in.

CELEBRATE SOMETHING RANDOM - Toast to the small wins. You finished that task? You kept a boundary? You made your bed? Pour sparkling water or champagne and raise your glass. Joy thrives in celebration.

No matter what your day holds, remember: You are worthy of joy in every season and in every stage.

So often, we chase joy like it's a prize at the end of productivity or perfection. But joy is not a destination.

By carving out space for joy, you’re not just caring for yourself, you’re honoring your spirit.

Your joy is sacred.

Your joy is necessary.

You'll be hearing more from me soon. Promise.
